EXPLOSION AT VOLTAIX SENDS ONE TO THE HOSPITAL

     

Monday, February 25, 2008 At 11:33am 49 and 32 fire where dispatched to Voltaix for the reported explosion. As units responded they were updated saying there was and explosion with chemicals on fire and that ems had one patent with sever burns requiring medevac. With this information 24 fire was alerted for the medevac landing, 21 fire was called as a RIT team,34 fire for an Engine and Truck and Hazmat was notified. First arriving unit found a small chemical fire in the production area but were unable to put it out due to the fact the chemicals reacted with water. Units remained on scene for a period of about 24 hours till the product was out and had cooled its self down.
